KAIPPUZHA FEST 2k22

Kaippuzha Fest 2k22 was conducted by Kuriakose Elias Development Action and Service
Society in association with Social Work Department, K E College Mannanam at Holy Family
Church Kaippuzha. The program was organized for the six different communities in Neendoor
Panchayat. Honourable Panchayat President Sri.V K Pradeep inaugurated the fest in the presence of K E College Bursar Fr.Biju Thekkekkuttu. Different cultural programmes and competitions
were held for the members of the community

AWARENESS CLASS AND VULNERABILITY STUDY

KEDAS in association with the Anti Human Trafficking Club (AHTC)conducted an awareness
class on Internet Addiction and Online Abuse at St. George School, Kaippuzha. The session was
able to raise awareness among the students about the dangers of internet addiction and the
widespread online abuse in society today. A vulnerability study was also conducted by the
trainee social workers. The session was attended by 70 Students.

MAGAZINE RELEASE

A magazine was prepared by the members of Children’s Club of Kuriyattukunn Colony and
Ambika Vilasam Harijan Colony. It was created with the aim of enhancing children’s creativity.
There were 27 participants for the program.

MIGRANTS DAY

KEDAS Volunteers presented a flashmob at an Awareness program on the Rights and
Entitlements of Migrant Workers held at the Poovanthuruth Industrial Estate which was
organized by MHD Kottayam in collaboration with the Migrant Suraksha Project, Kottayam and
District Labour Office, Kottayam. The programme was inaugurated by district labour office Shri.
Vinod Kumar Sir in the presence of Smt.Shreeja Madam, ALO Puthuppally Office, Shri.Anil
Kumar Sir, Superintendent DLO Office, Smt.Anuja Madam, Senior Clerk, DLO Office and
translation was done by Shri.Baiju Sir, Manager Migrant Suraksha Project and MHD Kottayam
as well. The programme was attended by 50 migrant workers.

SEED DISTRIBUTION

KEDAS in association with Krishibhavan, distributed vegetable seeds to the 30 families of the
adopted villages. The programme was inaugurated by Mr. Pramod (President, Neendoor Grama
Panchayat).

INTERNATIONAL MIGRANTS DAY

KEDAS in association with MHD Kottayam, Jawahar Migrant Suraksha Project and ASWEM
observed International Migrants Day in the presence of 40 migrants who work at a site located
near railway crossing, Kanjikkuzhy. Trainee Social Workers performed Mime highlighting all
the challenges that migrants are facing and gave awareness through Placards about drug abuse,
Covid and cleanliness etc. The program ended with mask distribution to migrants

HUMAN RIGHTS DAY

  • Awareness for youth
    As part of the world Human Rights Day, Ms. Sherin K C (Project Coordinator, KEDAS)
    provided awareness on Human Rights to the youth wing of Holy Family Church, Kaippuzha. The
    meeting was also addressed by Fr. Biju Thomas CMI (Director, KEDAS) and Dr. Tiji. The
    participants for the program were the youth wing members numbering 21
  • Awareness for children
    Trainee social workers provided awareness on Human Rights to the students in the adopted
    villages of KEDAS. The session helped the students to understand the importance of Human
    Rights. A quiz competition was also conducted. 30 students participated in the event, which was
    organized in various colonies.

FREE EYE TESTING CAMP

Kuriakose Elias Development Action & Service Society (KEDAS) an initiative of K E College
Mannanam organized a free eye testing and Cataract surgery Diagnosis camp in association with
Ahalia Eye Hospital Kottayam on 22 April, 2022 at K E College Mannanam from 10am to 3pm.
62 peoples were participated in the camp and 3 of them were sent to the hospital for further
treatment.

BADMINTON TOURNAMENT

The Badminton Tournament was held on March 1, 2022 at the Kaippuzha club for the people of
the adopted villages of KEDAS as part of the Kaippuzha Fest – 2k22 orrganized by KEDAS.
The program was launched by Kaippuzha Club President, Mr. James Malayil and the prize was
distributed by Sri. Suresh Kumar, Director of the Kerala Dairy Department.

AWARENESS CLASS ON DIGITAL BANKING TO MGNREGA WORKERS

As part of World Day of Social Justice, an awareness class on Digital Banking was conducted
for the MGNREGA Workers of Ambikavilasam Harijan Colony on 27th February 2022. Mr.Bino Mathew (Branch Manager, SBI Sasthangal) handled the session. 50 peoples were
